Franklin Model Medallion
The Franklin Typewriter Company of Boston, Massachusetts, manufactured the Franklin. Wellington Parker Kidder of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, was the inventor. Kidder earlier invented another typewriter mechanism that resulted in the Wellington typewriter. The Franklin has a down stroke action where the type bars rested in a standing semicircle in front and above the platen. In 1907, the Victor Typewriter Company took over the Franklin and released their front stroke Victor typewriter. The Franklin Typewriter Company did not number all of their different models sequentially.
