Information Processing
In 1801, Joseph Jaquard, a Frenchman from Lyons, developed an idea that could be used with a weavers loom.  It was a small card with holes placed at strategic points and joined togeather with other similar cards in an endless loop like fashion.  These cards represented the program tor a particular pattern of cloth that could be ran over and over.  In 1834, Charles Babbich created an "anylitcal engine", that was on paper the worlds first mechanical computer.  These were  the pioneer inventors and inventions that spawned the "Information Processing" industry.
